Beautiful day working in the cemetery my grandpa worked in, my great grandma worked in and so on for generations and generations…. A special kind of peace exists there.

A Hoopa kid was just on one of my tours at the old Mission. I love when that happens because I can see how they experience the opposite of what I had to deal with when at a mission during fourth grade, which portrayed my ancestors in a bad light. She was very proud, and she didn’t have to hear the shit I heard 15 years ago. She heard the truths, because of ancestors were strong and they...

That awkward feeling when someone cuts you off as you’re driving and you scream “GET OFF MY LAND,” then forget there are other non-Indians in your car with you…….

SUCH a beautiful day. Powwow was great, but chilled most of the day @ the Muwekma Ohlone booth with my family, our tribal chairwoman, and language committee. I am so happy to see them all, and proud to be a part of it all. And I ate way too much frybread. Lol

Off to Stanford powwow with the family. FOR THE RECORD: powwows are not historically a part of Ohlone cultural tradition. We had/have ‘big times’ smaller gatherings with only California Indian people for dancing and trade. Why do I go to powwow then? Because it’s fun, I’m Indian, and I like Indian tacos. Plus my tribe sets up a booth and it’s in our ancestral land, so...

Tomorrow is a big day. I am off to give a speech at the California Indian Museum and cultural center of Ohlone resistance and my interpretation of how we survived the Missions, the Mexican period in California, and the Gold Rush genocide. Wish me luck. Today we stand strong. May our story continue forever.

I’m working on a presentation for the California Indian Museum and as I began researching for this presentation I needed quotes, pictures, and footnotes as to be sure that everything I discuss is documented and has scholarship. The books though I began to research through were painful pieces that, while riddled with powerful quotes, painted my ancestors in a dark light. Some of the titles of...

One of our ancestors found in a recycling plant because someone dumped a skull they found. This pathetic piece of shit who DUMPED A HUMAN SKULL will get theirs someday. My cousin Andy was contacted to give this person a proper burial. As cousin Andy put it… “a day in the life of a modern Ohlone.”

Munching on seaweed in the ancient trading village of Petlunuc. I wonder what the ancestors would think of this big orange bridge linking Ohlone territory to Coast Miwok land. The native plants that were once paved over by the military for their air strip are back. The shellmound is still here. And Ohlone folks are still munching seaweed in this ancient place..

“I felt that it was a slap in the face and a further attempt at erasing the truth of the history of the native peoples (of the Americas)” Totally disappointed by Republican party, but was it unexpected? Would the Republican party have the courage to stand up for historic truth? Doubtful. The party of cowards.
