Beautiful day working in the cemetery my grandpa worked in, my great grandma worked in and so on for generations and generations…. A special kind of peace exists there.
210 years ago today an ancestor, Jocbocme, was baptized in this exact building. Brave ancestor, how you persevered and how strong you are. Today I am in this same building to tell our story. A Hoopa kid was just on one of my tours at the old Mission. I love when that happens because I can see how they experience the opposite of what I had to deal with when at a mission during fourth grade, which portrayed my ancestors in a bad light.
She was very proud, and she didn’t have to hear the shit I heard 15 years ago. She heard the truths, because of ancestors were strong and they were honorable.
That awkward feeling when someone cuts you off as you’re driving and you scream “GET OFF MY LAND,” then forget there are other non-Indians in your car with you…….
